“Black Blizzard” Summary
In the mid 1930s, parts of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico and other states were hit by many dust storm. These storms were some of the worst disasters in American History. The dust storms made the land virtually uninhabitable, threatening many people’s lives. In the early 1900s, many families bought land in these areas, it being mostly dry grasslands, making it hard for crops to grow. However hard work turned a profit and grew food.
