In“ Black BLizzard” by Scholastic Scope droughts and dust storms terrorized the states forcing migrations. In the 1900’s - 1930’s families bought tiny pieces of land for crops but could only grow wheat and corn, but were able to raise some cattle. Imagine a cloud of dust and dirt moved towards them, the cloud gets closer and even animals are scared, the family huddles and covers their face so no dirt/dust can get to their lungs and wait until it’s over. In the 1930’s some states were hit by many of these storms well over 100, these storms destroyed so much land and threatened lots of lives and killed cattle/vulnerable either immediately or through dust pneumonia.
