What does Black History Month mean to you? It seems like this month has different meanings. Negro History week founded by Carter G Woodson in 1926. The week inspired by Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass Birthdays. In 1976, The United States Bicentennial changed Negro History Week to Black History Month.

This month is a great time to show how great men and women of color who helped to pave the way for all black people. We hear of the tears, the hard work and those who died to get equality in favor of black people. I am happy to have grown in to a strong black man born in America. As I write this, I will share with you why this month is important to me. To me, it is a time to echo, celebrate and recommit.

During Black History Month we think ourselves on what does it mean being a black American. How could we compared to those who given up some much to show us the way to having a better future? The activist and organizers of the past who fought sweet and blood for us on racial equality. With all their hard work, it proves that process in racial equality improved. Every February as we take the time to celebrate, we thank those Black Americans who give us hope and inspiration showing us we are capable of being anything no matter what race we are. Teaching Black History doesn’t need to express suffering we been through. If you take a closer glance at black history, it is all the leadership, honesty, and determination. …show more content…
