Introduction:
Could you imagine being taken from your family and held in captivity?
Good Morning/ Afternoon I’m Sophie Hammond and today I will be summarising the creative yet emotional documentary ’Blackfish’
Blackfish is a documentary which follows a young Orca Calf named Tilikum, who is taken out of his natural habitat and held in captivity. This is why I believe it should be added to the Junior English syllabic as it may be able to raise awareness for animals that are help captivity for the amusement of humans.
The documentary “Blackfish” invites the viewers to feel saddened for the Orcas who are held in captivity for 2/3 of their lives and only come out to be trained or perform hours on end despite endangering and in extreme cases taking the lives of multiple trainers.

With the climax rising the first technique displayed is Archival footage and extreme close-up. This shot brings pure joy to the audience when seeing Tilikum almost smiling but we also see. Though truly the question being asked is: “Why are these adorable loving animals stuck in a box?”.
The final shot being used is a long-shot, in this shot we clearly see the high intensity training that the trainers are put through both physically and mentally. When viewing this long-shot as viewers we see this as amazement but wonder how tough this actually is.
Conclusion:
Overall “Blackfish” has conveyed a number of emotional scene outlining major problems towards animals. Therefore, I believe that this documentary should be presented to the Junior English syllabic as this may be able to push that little extra to raise awareness about what is happening to these animals. Following on from this I personally feel as though many school students would take a great experience away from watching this documentary. So is there anything we can do to help these amazing
