The novel Bless Me Ultima, tells the story about a boy named Antonio that is struggling with an identity crisis at such a young age. Throughout the novel he deals with trying to figure out his purpose in life. He also debates with knowing information about his religion. Antonio is basically born with the religious conflict of his parents which his mother is very religious and his father, Gabriel states that he does not trust priest because they stand for order and civilization. On the other hand his mother, Maria is a devout Catholic. This is a conflict for him because his mother wants him to be a priest while his father wants him to be a farmer.
