I chose this image to represent the book Blink Once by Cylin Busby. I chose this image because it represents the theme of my book. The theme is understanding the importance of what you have before it is gone. I chose the hearts in my image because it represents life and love, which I wrote in the middle of one of the hearts. I did this because in the story West doesn't know how important olivia is to him until he loses Olivia and she ends up dying. The life and love part shows he didn't know what she meant to him in his life and lost her love. The hearts are supposed to show the love and the life West lost because he was focused on himself. For example, one says to love your parents because even though we are growing older so are they. This shows that people may not do somethings because they know their parents are there to do it for them. What they don’t realize though is that even though you are growing older, so are they. This shows many people will not realize how important their parents are until they are gone, just like Olivia in the story. Another is a picture of a guy reaching out to an outline of a girl. The girl is reaching out to the guy. I feel like since the girl is just an outline she kind of represents a ghost. Since the guy is reaching out to the girl I feel like he never showed how important she was to him until she was gone. This connects to the story because West never knew how important Olivia was to him until she was a ‘ghost’ or gone. In the quote “Goodbye, West” (Busby 152) shows how in my image West didn’t know what he was about to lose by having the surgery. The pictures around the border show examples of people not knowing what they will lose. Another quote is “i’m your neighbor,Olivia. i already know our name is West (Busby 5).
