Throughout my education at Blinn College, I learned an immense amount of academic discipline. Blinn offers eight-week courses that require fast-paced learning. As I took these courses, I had to work harder to meet deadlines, manage my time better, and learn stronger study tactics to accommodate the multiple tests in a compact amount of time. It did become stressful to take an exam every week as well as focusing on my core classes that require a B for transfer. I also took a physics class in the summer, which was a four-week course. This was the class where I learned academic discipline. While I had the temptations of summer, I pursued my work and earned a B in an extremely difficult and time-consuming class. A combination of a heavy course load and debilitating personal issues exacerbated the difficulties I faced at Blinn. Despite these difficulties, I grew stronger in my capabilities. I grew up in a family that expected me to follow in the footsteps of my older brother. As much as I tried, my education and his education differed greatly. I had to navigate my way through Blinn almost completely alone. Both my parents and brother are engineers and are not well versed in the medical/psychology pathway. It took me multiple degree changes to find my true passion. After a quick turnaround, I found that psychology is where my love lies. Despite having to restart my major, I do not regret my initial path because of the lessons my failures taught me. Enduring these setbacks led me to truly excel and build my academic dedication and discipline. I have had to take countless roads, forget them, and restart.
