In Clip 4 of the Television Series 24 hrs in A & E, development stages were shown between the Patient Sean who has a neck injury and The Doctor responding to his problems and the way they both communicated with each other. Communication factors such as eye contact and therapeutic touch are factors resulted in effective communication between Sean and The Doctor. At the end Sean was listening to what the Doctor was saying to him and vice versa, the Doctor being attentive to Sean influences that Sean now trusts and respects the Doctor establishing that Adult to Adult communication state. Therapeutic touch was another communication factor that was used to establish effective communication between the Doctor and Sean. When conversing with Sean, the Doctor touched Sean’s shoulder in a therapeutic way of communication and reassurance making Sean feel at ease and knowing that he is in good care. This influenced their communication by making Sean feel reassured knowing that someone is there for him and that being told by the Doctor that he would be given something made Sean feel at ease knowing that he would be able to rest better and not feel panicked and agitated.
