In the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, she pursues the theme of Racism as a Disease. She uses the character Bob Ewell to portray this theme. She uses this character to display this because he claims that his daughter Mayella Ewell was raped by a a black man named Tom Robinson, but Tom’s lawyer proved Bob to be a liar in court. Although the jury still convicted Tom as guilty Bob Ewell was very bitter about being proved a liar because of a black man, because of this he spit in Atticus’ face who was Toms lawyer, and even tried to hurt Atticus’ children to make Atticus feel pain. This proves that racism is a disease because Bobs hatred for black people led him to do very terrible things to others. There are many actions that Bob takes
