In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the small county of Maycomb holds the heart of every malicious enemy to have ever existed in society; Bob Ewell. Firstly, he is not ashamed to act verbally obloquious in public. During the court case, Bob deliberately makes condescending remarks against Tom Robinson. "I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin' on my Mayella!” (Lee 231) He refers to a guiltless man as an animal taking advantage of his daughter. Nevertheless, he repeats Tom’s skin colour to denigrate and emphasize his foul language and hatred against a coloured man.
