Most of us were amazed by origin of "Mouse" which is a Latin name for muscle. Michelle pointed out that blood travels 50,000 miles of the blood vessel in the body. We all didn't know that the liver performs 500 different functions, after reading this, it gave us a better understanding of how the liver functions. Another thing we found interesting, is that older adults can take half an aspirin a day when taken over a long period of time. It can help reduce ones risk of a heart attack. I think most of us were clueless to this prior to reading this module. It is good that aspirin, among other things is put into place to reduce heart disease. We all agreed that module six was most interesting of all the modules. Danyell and Michelle thought the immune system was a fascinating part of the human body. It's amazing how we can get sick just by simply breathing the air around us. Colds are caused by approximately 200 different “cold” viruses. Thankfully our immune system has many ways to defend our body from viruses and bacteria's. Medically, bacteria and viruses are a nightmare but scientifically they are fascinating because they are so clever and cunning. One virus in no time at all can replicate and create hundreds or thousands of new cells containing the same virus.
