Bolman and Deal Connections Bolman and Deal’s (2008), Structural Frame, which emphasizes the roles, the goals, and the policies associated with a decision was reflected during Ms. Gaines’s ERIP presentation.
As she presented to the board, she highlighted the key aspects of the program, reviewed requirements, discussed procedures, and offered alternative scenarios. Structural components addressed within Ms. Gaines’s presentation included: the requisite employment hiring date, the required number of year’s employment in (SCPS) with related age component, retirement filing date, VRS experience level. Furthermore, the goals of the program were also clearly outlined. Hence, the Structural Frame (Bolman & Deal, 2008) applied directly to the policy presentation. Similar to the ERIP, Policy DM is representative of Bolman and Deal’s (2008) Structural Frame. The original policy outlines the responsibilities and procedures for handling cash generated by school activities. In addition to the general cash procedures, the policy designates the Principal as the caretaker. The current alteration to the policy includes the addition of a cafeteria change fund. For instance, Blaine was very active in motions pertaining to the election of a new Chair and Vice Chair.
