In the book Warriors Don’t Cry, the theme is that positive change can only occur when people show strength and push through obstacles. The first example is Melba showing strength on page 38 in chapter 4, when she finally arrives at school, only to be welcomed by an angry mob. Not only does she make sure her mother is okay, but she pushes through her fears and even drives them home to safety. Next, on page 181, she says thank you to everyone who insults or tortures her. This shows that she is becoming stronger, and not allowing people to get to her. Lastly, on page 215, Ernie goes to graduation to get his diploma and show the segregationists that he can achieve his goals. That shows a huge amount of strength, because he knew he could be killed
