Traveling on an airplane is an ideal way of traveling long distances, but usually, it is very uncomfortable and scary. The book I Survived the Hindenburg Disaster by Lauren Tarshis explained a lot about the biggest powered machine ever to take flight. In 1937, a german airship company finished construction of it’s best zeppelin yet. The airship was named the Hindenburg after it’s creator. The massive zeppelin had a 800 feet length and was 400 feet wide. Within a few days of its existence, the Hindenburg became the topic everyone on everyone's head. The airship gets lifted into the air by 7 million gallons of hydrogen. The interior of the Hindenburg was luxurious with leather sofas, and gold decor. The theme of the book I Survived the Hindenburg Disaster is “The Hindenburg was a one of a kind airship that only a few could dream flying on.”

The main reason the Hindenburg was drastically different from any other airship is because of its 800 feet length, and 400 feet width. “The German airship contain 7 million gallons of hydrogen and has an airspeed of about 84 miles per hour” (Tarshis, 78). In 1937, the most frequent vehicle used to cross the Atlantic were crowded, smelly, unsanitary, slow ships. The Hindenburg changed that by offering clean, reliable, and fast transportation.
