The Outsider is based on gangs that are always trying to fight against each other. The names of the gangs are the greasers and the Socs. The Socs are always trying to fight the Greasers. The Socs always think they are stronger than the Greasers. The Socs always hang out with their gang. The main characters in the book are Dally, Ponyboy, Johnny and Sodapop, they are part of the greasers. Dally is a man that is not messed with because something bad will happen. Ponyboy is calm that does not like to fight. Johnny will defend himself if he is in a bad situation or if they are hurting one of the Greasers. Sodapop dropped out of school to earn money for Ponyboy so he could pay the house.
