When I began my student career at Arizona Western College, I wanted to work in the field of Border Patrol or U.S. Customs and Border Protection; therefore, I decided to major in Administration of Justice. This class, just like all the other ones that I have taken at Northern Arizona University intimidates me. When I entered NAU I was shocked by how fast pace the courses were. At the time, I did not know whether I would be able to pull it off and complete the courses in just seven weeks. I believe that every class we take is a new challenge. This class is a little different to what I have taken in the past at NAU since I am a Justice Studies major. This class relates to my field and counts as the final course; the capstone. Based on the objectives, the course will touch base on the public sector and the different components that make it up. Decision making will also be discussed as well as the implementation on different important policies and organizational structure. I choose to enroll in the course due to the topic of the course, it sounded interesting. I never imagined that it would provide so much information regarding mentally ill offenders. The textbook of the course was written from the perspective of a journalist who began to research how mentally ill offenders were treated in prisons and during court trials. His interest began when his healthy son was diagnosed with a mental illness his senior year in University. Due to the laws, he was unable to help his son since he was an adult and could make his own decisions. The findings he found where shocking; there is a need for services that help mentally ill
