The Boston Marathon bombings were terrorist attacks against the United States on April 15, 2013. Approximately four hours and ten minutes into the race, the first bomb went off near the finish line. Twelve seconds later a second bomb went off. The two bombs were homemade pressure cooker bombs and placed in a backpack. Shrapnel exploded from the bombs killing three people and injuring hundreds of others. Many people lost limbs and even more people developed post traumatic stress disorder from the event. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led an immediate investigation to find the person(s) responsible for the attack. A local police officer saw the Tsarnaev’s and followed them to Laurel Street where a shootout occurred between the brothers and incoming police officers. Over 200 shots were fired and one bomb and multiple crude grenades were thrown. The older brother, Tamerlan, ran out of ammunition and was tackled to the ground by officers. Dzhokhar drove his car towards the struggling group. Police attempted to pull Tamerlan out of the way but were not quick enough. It contains graphic footage of the event and was created to inform the public and citizens of the United States about what happened and the status of terrorism in this country. The historical context of this event is directly related to al-Qaeda because the Tsarnaev brothers showed extremist Islamic beliefs. The intended audience was the viewers of ABC News. From this video, one can learn more about the initial panic and confusion that happened as a result of the terrorist bombings. The video had very few limitations but the footage is shaky and unsteady as the bombs shook the ground and as people rushed from the scene. It contained only footage immediately before the bombing to a few seconds after the bombing and raises questions as to what was happening a while before and a while after the event. This leaves the viewers with a harrowing sense of wonder about the events leading up to the
