According to Feeding America, “44 million people are suffering from food insecurity” (www.feedingamerica.org). Food insecurity is a huge problem in the United States. Food is one of the basic needs of humanity, and there are many organizations around the world that are trying to help people who can't provide food for themselves. Another challenge is finding food with nutrition. Bounty and Soul addresses food insecurity by offering food, education, and a healthy lifestyle.

People are suffering from food insecurity all around Buncombe County. Many people in the United States, and specifically in Buncombe County, are food insecure. Food insecurity is not being able to get food or provide food for one's needs. In other words,

Their first program is called “The Farmers Alliance”. The Farmers Alliance is located and connected with over 72 local farms. Bounty and Soul works with many local farms and organizations, and they work together to plant, water, and grow foods and vegetables. Later, Bounty and Soul sells these foods and vegetables in local markets, buildings, and to anyone looking for fresh food. Their second program is called “Produce to the People”. This program focuses on helping people who are in need of fresh fruits and vegetables. Bounty and Soul takes fresh food and produce seriously. Here, people can volunteer to set up market stands, organize food and put it in bags and boxes, or just have an open market stand for people to just walk up to. This helps out the community a lot, and they also teach kids how to cook recipes and share them with their family. The last two programs are Roots in Health and HOP. Rooted in Health gives people the opportunity to share nutrition information, cooking demonstrations, food preservation, gardening, sustainability, self-care, stress relief, and other community well-being. They have free classes that dive deeply into each subject because they believe it is important to be well educated. They have buildings and outdoor classes. HOP stands for Health Opportunities Pilot Program. This program provides free services to help with housing, transportation, interpersonal safety, and finally, toxic stress.
