In the film The Boy in the Striped Pajamas nine year old Bruno, the son of a Nazi commandment, was unfortunately placed in a gas chamber along with his Jewish friend, Shmuel. Bruno was obligated to move from his enchanting house in Berlin, Germany to a new home in an unfamiliar environment called “Auschwitz.” Having an urge to explore this new environment, Bruno is advised that there are certain places that are “Out of bounds at all times and no exceptions.” Tempted to explore into the unknown, Bruno ventures on a trail that takes his near a concentration camp where he meets a young boy sitting on the other side of a fence with electric fencing. The boy is wearing striped pajamas and has a cap on with the same pattern on it. He quickly becomes friends with him, and one decisive day Bruno smuggled through the other side of the fence and changes into a pair of striped pajamas. Later, he is placed in the gas chamber alongside Shmuel where they both die together. When Bruno moved from Berlin to Auschwitz he really missed his old house. Where he lived, it seemed as he was having more fun and had more friends. He was always in a joyful mood and adventurous. When he moved to his new house he was kind of depressed. He wanted to go back to Berlin. He was still adventurous, but he was unhappy and extremely devastated. He was kind of desperate for friends. He needed someone to play with. There is no one since his house is isolated. His sister was very influenced by the Holocaust; Her room was covered with Adolf Hitler posters and idolized him.
