Throughout history, modern and ancient, two men larger than life play out their roles as the best at what they do. Tom Brady is arguably the best quarterback to ever play the game of football. He has set NFL records and consistently won games for his team, the New England Patriots. Since Tom Brady has been the starting quarterback of the Patriots, he has achieved an astounding record of 170-54, winning 76% of the 224 total games. Now I am old, but as king of the people I shall pursue this fight for the glory of winning, if the evil one will only abandon his earth-fort and face me in the open” (2511-2515). Hubris impaired the quarterback's judgment the way so many defensive linemen couldn't”(Haugh). Tom Brady and the Patriots were found guilty of deflating the footballs that were used in the AFC Championship game last spring. Tom Brady knew about this and had texts about this on his phone. When the Judge found out and wanted the phone, Brady destroyed the phone and the evidence that it held. That was not an honorable move by Brady, but neither was cheating in the first place. The move Tom Brady made proves how different Tom brady and Beowulf are when it comes to honor.
These two men’s views on honorable decisions are completely different given the actions of Tom Brady last spring.
