In the article by Carol S. Dweck titled “Brainology: Transforming Students’ Motivation to Learn,” the author explains that experiences, learning and being praised influence the way in which one's brain changes throughout life. Dweck researched a lot about brainology and came to conclusions regarding mindsets and intelligence. She found that some students avoid challenges while other enjoy the little challenges that come with excelling in school. It is very obvious that motivation plays a role in taking on challenges; students seem to care less when faced with setbacks because they think there is no way to achieve full potential. Known as a fixed mindset, many students believe that there is nothing they could do to help them progress in studies. Students with a fixed mindset tend to keep track of intelligence instead of developing. They also believe that success is achieved through talent with little to no effort.
