Brazil
Brazil is the largest country in South America and is bigger in land mass than the continental U.S.A.. Brazil contains the world’s most vast expanse of tropical rainforests. To of the world’s largest cities Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are also in Brazil . The largest amount of Portuguese speakers, African people, and Roman Catholics are in Brazil. Brazil’s population is about 175 million people, and it contains about one-half of South America’s population. Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro is one of the largest stadiums in the world; it can contain about 82 thousand people. Brazil is unique from other countries, because of it’s history, culture, and geography.
People have lived in Brazil since at least 9000 B.C..

For time’s sake weak politicians controlled the government until 1841, when fifteen-year-old Pedro was crowned to Emperor Pedro II. During his forty-eight-year old reign, Pedro II changed Brazil into a modern world. Pedro II was forced from his throne in 1889, and then settled in Paris, France, were he died 2 years later (Heinrichs, 44). In 1930, the power of the Great Depression effected Brazil a lot (Hanley, 17). World War II was at it’s crisis period just as The Great Depression hit Brazil with a demand of Industrial Goods (Hanley, 17). Vargas wrote a constitution that made him a star (Hanley, 17). His constitution helped in a lot of ways, but increase of wages, shortened work hours, and gave labor unions many powers are couple of rights that the constitution gave (Hanley, 17). It also gave people over 18 who could read and write the right to vote and Brazilian women the right to vote. South American Archeology (study of ancient people) has long focus on high civilization that inhabited the central Andes and the pacific coastal region. Recent archaeologist discovered that Brazil was home to people that are very advanced. There is a small percentage of the Brazilian population that contains the American Indians, 300,000 people (“Brazil”, 3). The earliest pottery found in South America was in the Amazon Basin. When Portuguese first arrived in Brazil number of native people was between 1 million to 11 million (“Brazil Facts”, 4). The three main branches in Brazil are Executive branch, Legislative branch, and judicial branch. The Executive branch is in charge of foreign affairs, agriculture, mines and energy, culture, environment, and tourism (Heinrichs, 53). Brazil’s law making branch is Legislative branch which is composed of two chambers” The Chamber of Deputies” and ” The Fedral State”. The Judicial branch is Brazil’s justice system (Heinrichs,
