Dear British Government
My name is Stream J and today I am writing this letter to the British government to show that the two Australians Lt. Edwin Harry ‘Breaker’ Morant and Lt. Peter Joseph Handcock were innocent for shooting the Boer prisoners in the 1902’s.
First of all, Breaker Morant was an Anglo-Australian drover, a horseman, a poet and a solider. He earned his nickname ‘The Breaker’ because of his skills with horses. He participated in the execution of several Boer prisoners and the giving the order of killing the German missionary Hesse. Peter Handcock was a Veterinary Lieutenant in the Bushveldt Carbineers in the Boar War in South Africa. He also participated in shooting the Boer prisoners and shooting a German missionary Hesse. This being said, shooting the German missionary Jacob Hesse was well explained by these two. But the reasons why they have done so is because they thought that this Hesse was the problem from the first when Captain Hunt was alive where he had helped the Dutch so that the Australians could get into the Dutch’s trap and Morant pacifically gave orders to Hesse to not to talk to the Boer prisoners but he disobeyed the order therefore Hesse ended up getting shot by Peter Handcock. This proves that these two men’s have done the right thing. Because if they haven’t done so, then the Dutch would have had more advantage so therefore, the Dutch would of never surrendered.
Killing and shooting the Boer prisoners, Morant told the court that it was an order from Lord Kitchener which at one hand some people believe that it was true but in the other hand, some people think it was just a bunch of lies he made to save himself, Handcock and Witton. This mystery is still unexplained and no one can prove it so far. So people will stop at this point and judge these two mans for being murderers. For killing those innocent mans who might have had a wife, a child, or a family. Some
