I don’t think anyone would want to be stranded deep in the Canadian Wilderness with only a hatchet to help them survive. In the book hatchet, a 13 year old boy, Brian Robeson, is in this situation for 54 days. Brian gets into this situation when the pilot of his bush plane has a sudden heart attack and his plane crashes. Despite having little resources Brian manages to survive. After reflecting upon my own abilities I am unfortunately sure that I wouldn’t survive to day 54.
If I was able to fly, I would attempt to get the plane back on course. If the pilot offered to teach me how to fly, I would accept the lessons. In the book the pilot offers to teach Brian the basics of flying. At first he didn’t want to learn, but he changed his mind.
