Expressive totality
Throughout the semester, we talked about the expressive totality which supports the theme and genre of the movie. For this assignment, I would like to discuss about the movie Bride of Frankenstein and Gods and Monster. The most significant elements of both movies that supports the narrative of movie are the Characters, theme and mise-en-scene. In movie Bride of Frankenstein, the characters were perfectly presented to support the horror genre; the monster’s and scientist. The performance of characters was excellent carried according to the narrative by which the audience can easily figure out their roles in that movie. The negative role of the mad scientist and the innocent monster which is also relays a satirical message in some way.
The ghastly setting of the tower where insane scientist created the bride for monster, friendship between blind man and monster, the sound used in the background, lights, dialogues, characters, tracking shots and all the setting of the movie attributed to the theme of the movie.

The main characters are yard boy Clayton Boone and Whale. The feature of Boone is similar to the Monster of Whale’s movie. The scene in which the Monster walks toward the james and pulls his hand in his dream shows that boon appearance resembles the monster. The character who played the role of Whales and his interaction with other male, handsome guy boon, suicide by Whales, psychological disorder, suicide note, Whales attire, the events Whale attended , special light effect used in the scene, For instance, Whale taking sexual advantage of Boon and many other mise-en-scene of the movie supports the theme of the movie.
