The election of 2000 was incompr ehensible at the time for they was never an election this close before. And it was so ugly on both sides for both parties were guilty of being shaded and trying to rigged the system. For the democrats wanted only to recount four of the most liberal counties on Florida instead of a whole state recount. And the republicans didn't want the under votes to count.
