To be so set in their ways that they resort to destroying schools, throwing acid in students faces, and kidnapping them to ensure they never receive their full education is downright insanity. The extremist Muslim group called Boko Haram did just that. This group is against the education of females, and anything or anyone that tries to change to be more like Western education is a threat. The government of Nigeria has been reluctant to intervene, scared of what the extremists will farther do. This also affects the involvement of other countries, as the violence leads to a high risk. In the first article, 'Bring Back Our Girls' by Nicholas Kristof, the event is unbearable. To be woken up by the crackling of machine guns is a nightmare. But for the students of a girl's boarding school, it was a reality. There were over 300 girls kidnapped, and they are being auctioned off for $12 each. That is what these extremists value them at. But they are priceless. These girls have the potential to do whatever they want, become whatever they want, and achieve whatever they want. They all had dreams and aspirations of what they would grow up and become. Countries around the world need to realize this and step in. To give education to everyone, the education being taught needs an overhaul. Tony Blair says in his article Education is a Security Issue that "Until we clean the soil in which this poisonous plant takes root, the life chances of millions of young people across the world and our own security will continue to be blighted by it."
