Most rapists face little to no punishment. In particular, the Stanford rapist Brock Turner violated a woman and spent only 3 months behind bars. This case specificly caught my attention because of the fact that he raped a woman and had such little time in jail. The woman’s life changed forever because of the traumatizing experience. Turner deserved more time and it is unfair that he got let out so quickly. Other rapists will look at this case and think they can rape someone without recieving such a big punishment and that is simply not okay. Rape is a huge crime and a rapist should spend years in prison, not 3 months. Some people seem to have the wrong idea during rape cases. Mentioned before, the Brock Turner case was a remarkable case where a Stanford student only had to serve three months in jail for raping someone with a foreign object. Brock Turner felt no guilt whatsoever for his actions. I truly think that it is because of his short sentence. Another rape case that is particularly unfair and wrong is about an Alabama man who raped a teenage girl and is serving no prison time. A judge in Alabama stated that the rapist will be punished by serving two years in a program aimed at nonviolent criminals and three years of probation. He was said to have raped this girl twice when she was 14 and also 18 years old. This man is a serial criminal who deserves prison time, which he did not recieve. He left this young woman scared and afraid forever, and didnt even recieve a harsh punishment. Rapists are supposed to serve between 8 and 9 years, and this Alabama man served zero. This is not fair and sad for the now 20 year old because she will be in pain for the rest of her
