In this article, there is a debate of whether or not Brominated Vegetable Oil or BVO should be in Coke and Pepsi. A fifteen-year-old girl petitioned to have the substance removed from the products. This petition quickly gained more than 200,000 signatures. We then learn that there has not been very much research on bromine, we just know that it is “generally recognized as safe” according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The argument in this article is whether or not Bromine is safe for human consumption. If it is safe, then there should be no worries about using it in Coke and Pepsi.
