Braxton is a 9 year old boy with an outgoing personality. He began babbling around 5 months. When he played with his toys, he would babble “ba ba ba.” When he sat on his mother’s lap he would babble “da da da,” even though it didn’t actually mean he knew his father. His mother would repeat “ma ma ma” in hope that Braxton would repeat that. His babbling skills were experience-dependent because since the brain already created synapses in the utero that he would be exposed to language, Braxton’s babbling grew and refined as he got older and had more experience around adult language. Eventually his babbling turn into a more defined vocabulary and grammar. By 9 months, Braxton started to modify his babbling to match sound patterns of his parents
