MILLERSBURG — For threatening a witness in the criminal investigation involving brother-in-law, a Millersburg woman on Tuesday was given a suspended jail sentence.
April Phillips, 38, of 800 S. Washington St., Lot 337, pleaded guilty in Holmes County Municipal Court to a single count of telephone harassment. In exchange for her guilty plea, a related charge of menacing was dismissed.
Phillips plea deal with the state also included a joint sentencing recommendation of 90 days in the Holmes County Jail, to be suspended in favor of one year of probation, during which time she is prohibited from having any contact with the victim.
Judge Andrew Hyde adopted the sentence and also imposed a $150 fine.
Both charges stem from a series of incidents reported on Dec. 29, when the Millersburg Police Department was contacted by a 27-year-old Millersburg woman who said Phillips had used Facebook to make several threats against her, including a threat to cause her injury.
