“Brownies” by ZZ Packer is a story with a great deal of humor but a serious theme and purpose. People who lives in the United States can be unfamiliar with the history of the nation, the relations between black people and white people have been fraught with discrimination and oppression. Although the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s, and later federal government tactics, including equal opportunity laws and confirmative action, removed most of the outrageous racist practices, racism persist to exist in the United States.Most important thing that caught my attention in the story is the fact that only because someone has a diverse color of skin does not mean that someone else will be better than the other.
