Bruce Dawe’s poem “Enter Without So Much as Knocking”, opens with the phrase: "Blink. Blink. HOSPITAL. Silence.", which is almost identical to the ending, although instead of a hospital the man ends up in a “CEMETERY”. The repetition in the start and end of the poem, both correlate with its title. In the beginning, you are entering the world without notice, until death comes into your house suddenly. Either way, both sentences represent stages in the speaker’s life, which seems to have flashed before his eyes in chronological order. *However, they are read in two different tones. The ending being very quick and rather sudden, representing how fast death can occur. While most of the poem is very sporadic, the final line is quite clear. Enabling
