Romeo and Juliet Essay
Have you ever acted on impulse or taken a lot of risks as a teenager? Studies show that as a teenager acting on impulse or taking a lot risk is normal. Using research and the play can are that Tybalt, Mercutio, and Romeo in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet act on impulse, take a lot of risks, and don’t think before acting.
In the play, Tybalt often shows common teenagers behavior and slowly lead to his death. During a scene in the play the Capulet is having a ball for Juliet. Tybalt notices Romeo who is a Montague is at the ball. “Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe, a villain that is hither come in spite, to scorn at our solemnity this night” Tybalt (I.5) Tybalt’s character acts on impulse in this scene when he says villain describing Romeo. Tybalt’s character also doesn’t think before acting when he sees Romeo. Tybalt’s character says that Romeo here to scorn their night. In another scene Tybalt gets in a fight and engage in dangerous and risky behavior. “Adolescents don’t think before they act and get on impulse” (The teen brain: Behavior, Problem solving, Decision making) This article sheds light on Tybalt’s impulsive behavior and not thinking before acting. This makes more understanding on his character in the play as a teenager. Tybalt’s character acts on impulse without thinking as a common behavior of a changing brain.
In the play, Mercutio often shows common teenage behavior with his emotions. Mercutio likes making fun and joking around, but also switches to being mad and sad. “Which once untangled much misfortune bodes. This hag” Mercutio (I.4) Mercutio’s character showing common behavior of a teenager by saying once you take out the braid bad comes out. Mercutio’s character doesn’t think about what he says and uses the word hag to describe the horse out of impulse. In the same scene of the play Mercutio acts on impulse. He went from happy and joking in the Queen Mab speech to mad and sad. “Adolescents don’t think before they act and act on impulse” (The teen brain: Behavior, Problem solving, Decision making) This article shed light on Mercutio’s character in the play as a teenager’s common behavior. Mercutio’s character acts on impulse by the word choice he uses and doesn’t think before he says it. Mercutio’s character doesn’t thinking before acting as a common behavior of changing brain.
