One of the may cinematic techniques utilized by Burton in his movies is his emotionally changing sound. He incorporates many different types of sound, that range from suspenseful and scary, to energetic and cheerful. The two main types of sounds are diegetic and nondiegetic, and Burton uses both in order to make his audience feel what the characters in the movie are feeling, and what they are going through. Diegetic sounds are the the kind that the people in the movie can logically hear. For example, in the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, there is a scene in the film were the oompa loompas, sing a song based on the spoiled little girl, Veruca Salt, who had just been thrown into an immense hole, that led to the incinerator, the oompa loompas start to sing a song, saying how rotten and miserable she was, and the other characters in the movie could hear them singing, and they listen to the song. …show more content…
The film Edwards Scissorhands, has a lot of suspenseful aspects to it, and Burton uses them to make the scene become more realistic, for example when Peg first found Edward, all alone in the mysterious mansion, there was a creepy tone to the music in the background as she was moving from corridor to corridor looking for someone, that only the audience could hear, that made it seem like someone or something was lurking behind her ready to strike.
