Values are the rules by which we make decisions about right and wrong, should or shouldn’t, good and bad. They also tell us which are more or less important, which is useful when we have to trade off meeting one value over another. (http://changingminds.org/explanations/values/values_morals_ethics.htm)
Ethics are what we strongly believe in and will defend or will not compromise. Ethics are rules that we set for ourselves to follow and never detour from or bend to please others.
Morals are what we decide are bad or good and how we would handle certain situations.
When I first got promoted as a senior supervisor at the company I work for I noticed a lot of things that didn’t seem right. I watched how other supervisors were doing their job and what I seen was really not pleasing at all, all or most of the supervisors were gathering together like they were a superior group. I basically notice there was a click going on and not with the employees that worked under the supervisors. I began getting complaints from employees saying they were taxed for an incentive that they didn’t receive, after getting these complaints I immediately started to investigate and found some alarming evidence. The supervisors designated someone to come and speak to me and try to drag me in with them, I played the game just to find out what was exactly going on. When I was presented with this immoral act of ethics I listened and they wanted me to go along with them stealing the incentives and taxing the employees for them and to basically turn the other cheek. I couldn’t do this in a million years because it’s morally wrong and I have my morals and ethics that I stand by which are if I can’t earn it legally I don’t need it. These supervisors were breaking every rule in the book when it comes to doing the right thing and honoring your employees for a job well done, not only was the supervisors defrauding the employees they were also defrauding the company and the trust they put in you by making you a leader in the organization.
I had to exercise my position and power I called the police and had all of them arrested and the company pressed charges. The employees that was charged for something they didn’t receive was reimbursed. The so called supervisors had to payback thousands of dollars they stole from the company and they were terminated without possibility of
