Dear Mr. President,

I am writing to garner your interest in the fight to legalize medicinal marijuana on the federal level. It is an issue that has sparked great concern throughout the country as state by state we are seeing legalization efforts passed while our government considers what these individual states is doing is illegal. As I’m sure you recall in my presentation, the benefits are far reaching and most have not been uncovered as of yet. I have organized a proposal to highlight the facts that accompany the argument for federal legalization including the health benefits, the plan, and budgeting concerns. Being that a majority of the country agrees with the legalization of marijuana in medicinal forms, I hope you find that the time has come to start the reforms as one country, not just state by state.

The problem is very clear, and is not an issue that the great country that we live in should have to go through. We are allowing states to legalize marijuana as medicine but the government that governs these states reserves the right to criminalize these activities, most of which are sick people that are just looking for healthier medications. Throughout the years marijuana has received a bad reputation but in recent years studies have confirmed its medicinal benefits. This creates a paradigm due to the fact we have a drug that can benefit many people, models of success to imitate,, yet our government restricts citizens from using it to help them through their troubles. Using past trials and even looking at countries and states that have successfully transitioned to legalizing medicinal marijuana, a plan has been laid out that I hope you can appreciate and put into action.

Enclosed you will find a copy of my proposal that entails detailed information on this problem, paradigm, and plan of action. My information is again listed below as I have listed both my e-mail and phone contacts. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I thank you for your time and hope you find the enclosed proposal to be far reaching and to be a signal that a change is needed.

In this paper it is proposed that the United States Federal Government revises their thinking on federal medicinal marijuana laws. Not only is their more than enough studies to back the fact that marijuana has medicinal benefits but it is time to stop criminalizing our citizens who are just looking for effective medication. Additionally this paper discusses another part of the problem which is the fact that almost half of the country has legalized medicinal marijuana in their state laws but the federal government still views it as criminal activity. It creates a double standard that many people are scared to challenge. This paper outlines this problem in detail and also goes into depth on how and why this problem needs to be fixed. Furthermore a plan is outlined in this proposal and shows the steps that need to be taken starting with admitting that marijuana has beneficial aspects, all the way to changing our countries laws and allowing our citizens to voice their concerns with how this problem has been handled or more accurately ignored.

This proposal seeks long awaited reforms, not for all people, but for the sick. These are the people that need help and there is no reason with the proven health benefits that marijuana can provide that we should not listen to them. Step one is to reclassify, step two is to have a vote to legalize, step three would be
