He points out the surprise of the 2013 Oscar ceremony, Ang lee beating Steven Spielberg for best director. In max and the cats max is forced to leave Nazi Germany after his friend and him are turned into the secret police for inappropriate behavior, and then escapes the Nazi rule by leaving on a zoo transport ship involved in a scam that sinks shortly into the trip forcing him to survive on a dingy with a jaguar. Alike in the way in one of Pi’s stories he survives on a boat with a tiger narrowly escaping his own vessel sinking. In life of pie, pi and his family flee India because of the shifting government policy and knew worse was to come, shortly after pis boat is sunk and he has to have great endurance and will power to overcome a struggle much in the way America did after 911, with life of pi being released in the same month as the tragedy many believe Yann Martel was trying to warn America of its future grievance. I feel that comparing the governments was reasonable but that the book predicted 9-11 seemed to be hard to believe and needed more evidence. Most of the time Hollywood does not do the book any justice and fails to tell the whole story leaving out main lessons the author tries to get across, it is no different in this case.
