Cal Trask In John Steinbeck's East Of Eden

Cal Trask is like a dark shadow in Steinbeck’s novel, East of Eden. No one really pays attention to Cal. If he leaves, no one ever really notices that he’s gone. He has tried tremendously hard to win his fathers love over his “perfect” brother, Aron. Cal has something special about him, his ability to never give up. At the end of the novel, Lee tells Adam, “Your son is marked with guilt out of himself---out of himself---almost more than he can bear. Don’t crush him with rejection. Don’t crush him, Adam.”(Steinbeck, 602). Cal has lost all hope but he still tries. The narrator says, “Cal’s head shattered with pain and he was wide awake. Robinson has dark hair and dark eyes. He has that mysterious look just like Cal does. Robinson played the role Zach Mitchell in Jurassic World. The character that he played had a similar personality to Cal. Zach doesn’t usually show emotion. Cal tends to hide back his feelings from the world and it builds up on him and makes himself hurt more. Zach is calm in life and death situations. Cal is pretty fearless and tends to not care about certain things. Zach is more mature then his brother. When he found out his parent’s were getting divorced, he knew there was nothing he could do about it. This is how Cal acted when he found out about his mother, Cathy. He knew no matter how hard he tried; nothing was ever going to ever go his way.
