California is a western U.S state, which stretches from the Mexican border along the Pacific for almost 900 miles. The latitude of California is 38.3004° N and the longitude is 76.5074° W. The length of the coastline is 1351.85 Kilometers.

Identify the changes that have occured along the coastline (overtime) and provide reasons for these changes - including a range of human interactions.

Global warming and Sea level rise: One change which has occurred is a rise in sea levels. Coastal California is already experiencing early impacts of sea level rise, including extensive coastal flooding during storms, periodic tidal flooding and increased coastal erosion. As the global temperatures rise, it causes the ocean water to expand. However, the sea level rise is not constant. Streams and rivers already carry out the sediment from land to sea, which naturally replenishes beaches. As many of the coastal beaches are dammed, dam removal is now appearing on the radar of the coastal planers which are concerned about the sandy beaches and their future.
