As an adolescent, it seems a tad bit unnecessary to think about how the government works, how the law works, and overall completely comprehend what it means to be living as a Canadian citizen. Furthermore, this course has given me an understanding as to how political systems, judicial systems, and global citizenship works. The government is easily perceived as complicated and confusing, but it is sometimes forgotten that the government is what we all depend on to go about our everyday lives with complete safety and security. Learning about my rights and privileges which I receive from living in Canada has shown me and helped me to become a better citizen. This course has allowed students to properly learn about democracy, its practices, factors, and defining features. Learning about these ideas has given me insight to how the Canadian government properly functions. Being taught about politics, democracy, and voting has shown how important it is to become educated about the government of the country that we all live in. By following these rights set by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, I can respect myself as well as those around me to ensure safety and protection. Learning about the rights and responsibilities as a citizen allows me to understand what I am entitled to in a democratic society, and what I must do to promote a positive democracy.
