Cannon Beach, Oregon is one of my favorite places to go on vacation. The feeling I get when I am there is like no other. The air is thick with humidity, like all ocean air. The air smells of sea water and the waves are constant and infinite. The constant roar of the waves adds to the scenic ocean view, which is all to familiar. The skies are blue, with no clouds in sight. The tide rises and falls, giving way to amazing tide pools which are viewed by passing tourists at various times of the day. The Haystack Rock stands strong and steady just off the shore, towering the beach and the nearby houses. Campfire line the beach as the families gather around to enjoy the cool night air. The laughter and taking of the friends and families can be heard as you pass them by. After enjoying the fires which roast s'mores, families often walk toward the water. The beach seems to go on for ever. The water is never in sight. Finally, after walking for what feels like miles, the water can been reached. It quickly comes ashore, leaving a trail of foam when it recedes. From this point, the sky is incredibly dark, giving way to a breathtaking view of stars above. Just about every consultation can be made out and taken in. The only light source other than those of man's creation, is the giant full moon which along with the stars lights up the night sky. In the distance, sea worthy ships take the ocean, with all of its calms and swells. In every other direction on the beach, flashlights guide friends and families in the dark. Finally, when the night is over and the morning comes, the tide is high, allowing only the brave to make there way on the beach. Seagulls chirp, and another beautiful day starts.
