Capital Punishment When it comes to capital punishment I am against it. I don’t believe that someone should be killed for committing a murder because that just makes us a killer as well. If I were for capital punishment I guess it would be a way to send a warning to future criminals. Although murder still happens, maybe the person committing the crime might think about the consequences and decided to let the victim free because in the back of their head they think about the capital punishment. So in a sense capital punishment can be used as a deterrent and install fear into a criminal or would be criminal and dissuade them from making the decision that can ultimately lead to their own death. Another reason why capital punishment would be a good thing is because it can stop a criminal or murderer from murdering or raping or committing a crime again. Sometimes in a trial the person who committed the crime might get parole or just be acquitted for the crime, then that just leaves that person an opportunity to go out and commit more crimes. The reason for capital punishment is to stop someone from doing more bad things like killing. Along with this, the criminal could be a liability in jail and pose a threat to other inmates. Who knows how dangerous or what a person serving life, instead of capital punishment, will do in prison. At times the person who committed murder can leave a very strong void for the victim’s family for a year, a decade, or never. The capital punishment can provide closure for a victim’s family and it can be a way for the family to recover faster knowing that the killer isn’t able to harm anyone any more. At times the grief may not end with the murderer’s execution, but the execution does engender a feeling of relief at no longer having to think about the ordeal, a feeling which often fails to arise while the murderer still lives on. Today when capital punishment is ordered, the inmate is first put on death row. Death row is pretty much like being in jail and experience being in jail and not get off the hook too easily. Some argue that when a criminal is sentenced to death, that they are getting off the hook and don’t learn anything from being sentenced to death. In reality though the inmate is on death row for quite a while before he or she is put down and they have the time to reflect and figure out what they did wrong. At times the murderer might be on death row and they know their life is about to end, they get really scared and really start to come to sense at what they did. There have been times where death row inmates got a reduced sentencing to life in prison without parole. Now they still felt the scare of being condemned to death, but now he or she will serve life and really learn. When it comes to the time of death for the criminal, there are several ways he or she can out put down. Some of the ways are lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, hanging, and firing squad.
