Capitalism vs. Communism Russia wanted to spread their idea while the US wanted to stop it. After World War 2 the Soviet Union and the Us had differences some in what to do next. They also had differences in how they ran their country they Us had a Capitalist society which meant the ownership was private while Russia was Communist a society where the government owns everything. The soviet union wanted to expand communism and the US thought communism was a threat to them. The US started a policy called containment to contain communism. The US had the policy of containment but, how did they contain communism? There good examples of containment which help explain what it was. The Korean started by North Korea attacking South Korea. The US then decide to help South Korea and push back into North Korea. China then entered the war and Korea's was in the state is was originally(Document C). This shows that even though korea border didn’t move the US is dedicated to containing communism They will go to war and other extreme measures. A third example of containment was the cuban missile crisis. The soviet union first put missiles in Cuba. When the US found out they realizes this could hurt them and spread communism. Next the us put quarantine around Cuba meaning no ships could leave or enter. After being very persistent the Soviet Union removed the missiles from Cuba. The Cuban missile crisis is a great example of containment because it shows how the us will take action and stop communism from attack and converting. There were also many other times were the US attempted to contain communism such as turkey but these examples are the best. The airlift in berlin the korean war and the Cuban Missile Crisis are all great examples. This is important today because we stop the spread of communism and kept our country safe. We also kept other countries safe and non communist. We made sure capitalism was there and it shows how we can put in effort and achieve
