When starting out as a cardiovascular technician, there are many tasks you can perform. A beginner cardiovascular technician may perform EKGS (electrocardiograms) on patients as well as many other non-invasive procedures. Unlike cardiovascular surgeons, cardiovascular technicians do not perform surgery on patients; although a more experienced cardiovascular technician may aid in helping a cardiovascular surgeon in transporting patients, equipment, or performing diagnostic tasks. Since most cardiovascular technicians work with fellow doctors, nurses, and medical assistants; they are commonly found in hospitals and may have to work late during evenings, on weekends, and during holidays.
