Career As A Physical Therapist

My projected career is Physical Therapy. I chose a career that will be both challenging and fulfilling. I will first target why a career in Physical Therapy will be challenging. Physical Therapists must make a significant investment in education. A bachelor's degree and a master's degree are minimum requirements. Even after I graduate from college, I will need to keep up with current industry trends which leads to continuing education. I will need to keep certifications current and take workshops and attend conferences. A physical therapist works with individuals that have gone through injuries or traumatic illness. The ultimate goal is to help these respective individuals regain their independence, so I will spend much of my time pushing them to do the hard work to achieve that goal. That can require longer than usual work hours with my patients. A physical therapist needs to be strong and in good shape so I can lead by example. At times I will need the strength to lift a patient and/or help them sit or stand. At the very least, I expect to be on my feet moving around during most of my therapy sessions with my patients. …show more content…
Making a difference in their lives will give me extraordinary pleasure. After completing college, I will be a highly educated expert in my field and I can promote my patient's ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. Helping people regain the ability to walk and carry out daily activities can lead to a great feeling of personal satisfaction for my patients and myself.
