As soon as I began school, the first question I received was, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” This question has been continuous since those day back in Stoddard Elementary school. After doing some research and the quizzes that test what I am interested in I decided to research a career in ministry, also known as clergy. This career is in the Human Sciences and Education field under the human services cluster. My Career is under the pathways: Family and Community along with Counseling and Mental Health services. Someone who is involved in ministry has a very wide variety of things to do which can also happen at very random times. I would enjoy pursuing a career at a non denominational church. I could follow a career in ministry across the globe, or stay in the United States. I could work more with youth or the elderly along with the option of working my way up to being a senior pastor. A pastor’s average week can consist of counseling, setting up lessons for the upcoming week, meetings with church board members, volunteering in the community, …show more content…
The office hours are the ones of counseling, of any type, and meetings. The other part of a day or week could be spent at home. Doing planning, devotions, and research can all be done from the comfort of your own home and I feel that I would really appreciate this aspect of the job. Essentially, I would be able to set my own schedule. This would include the easy less stressful days. The stressful ones can come with counseling people or trying to help others who are really going through a rough patch and that can take a toll on a person. Also if you get lucky enough and work for a great church who wants to surround themselves with positive hard working people the work environment would dramatically increase in
