Imagine the population of the human species radically plummeted within a matter of a few weeks or even days. Obviously, it would be by far safe to assume that something unusual is up. Besides the Black Death, which nearly wiped out a third of a continent’s human population, it is certainly not a nature occurrence. Yet, based off of Carl Zimmer’s article “Death on the Steppes: Mystery Disease Kills Saigas”, a similar incident is currently occurring in which an unknown threat nearly eradicated an entire species of antelopes, Saigas, to the point of extinction…again.
