In conclusion and in support of my stance we will turn to the text and use the processes created by Carroll Daugherty in 1977 (Budd, 2017). She established seven rules to justify weather an employee should be discharged or disciplined.
1. Was the worker given advance warning of the consequences of his conduct? In our case, absolutely, his supervisor informed him if he didn’t perform his job he would be placed on a suspension.
2. Was the rule, order, or standard reasonable related to the orderly, efficient, and safe operation of the employer’s business? The order was directly related to Mr. Hyer’s job and based on his past training and time in the field the order was safe.
3. Was the alleged violation investigated before the discipline?
