Case #01 | Clear Lake High School v. Texas (2017)
WHAT IS THIS CASE ABOUT?
A high school located in Clear Lake County, Texas, practices a tradition of including an invocation and benediction written and presented by the seniors who are graduating. Most of these prayers clearly reference Christianity. Some students and parents disagreed with this practice, and called for the tradition to terminate. The school refused and the plaintiffs filed a case in the US District Court to end these kinds of prayers at the graduation ceremony.
